Yippeee! We closed escrow last week, the 21st of April....my new favorite day. What a sigh of relief to finally put the home buying process behind us. The 6-week period of pins and needles was nerve wracking! As a realtor, I've forgotten what it's like to be a "buyer"....the tidal wave of emotions a buyer goes through as each day comes and goes. This experience has certainly made me acutely aware of how important it is to provide excellent service and care in order make my buyer's experience as positive and as stress-free as I can during the whole transaction. It's a good thing I have such a great agent that took care of all the behind-the-scenes issues that popped up which shielded John (my husband) from a lot of undue stress. My agent? Me, of course! In John's eyes, the whole escrow period was quite uneventful.
So, after 2 years of dreaming of that special house, it's finally a reality. We literally have a "new" house! Straight from the assembly line. John and I are so very excited to move in....which won't be until the last week of June. We have to stay where we are until our daughter graduates from high school on June 16th. In the meantime, we are using the time to make plans on landscaping, painting and shopping for new furniture. We've probably been to Lowes and Home Depot more times these last two months than we have in years! I've already started looking up contractors to paint the interior of the house. I've got a whole project plan for the next two months to make our house move-in ready. The only limiting factor is finances. Gotta watch the pennies so we made a list of priorities on what we really need done this year...which would be interior paint, window treatments and furniture. Our list for next spring is the backyard landscaping. Wow, new adventures and experiences are on the way.
I'll be sure to write about my new experiences as they unfold. Until then, I'm back on the saddle riding off to bigger and better adventures. Let's see how many times I fall off the homeowner saddle on the way there.
